About Support at Home

What is Support at Home?
Support at Home is the Australian Government’s funded home-based aged care program under the Aged Care Act 2024. It replaced Home Care Packages from 1 November 2025. It provides government-funded support to help eligible older Australians remain independent at home.

Home Care Packages were replaced by Support at Home on 1 November 2025. If you were on a Home Care Package, your entitlements transitioned into the new Support at Home system under transition arrangements.

Your classification (Level 1–8) is your funding tier, determined through a free government aged care needs assessment. Level 1 has the lowest funding; Level 8 has the highest. Your level reflects your assessed care needs.

Annual funding ranges from $10,731 (Level 1) to $78,106 (Level 8). Budgets are divided quarterly. 10% of each quarterly budget is used for care management. Funding amounts are indicative and subject to indexation.

Your budget can fund a broad range of services including personal care, domestic help, meals, transport, social support, nursing, allied health, assistive technology, and home modifications — as approved in your care plan.

Who is eligible for Support at Home?
You must be aged 65 or over (or 50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, or 50+ if homeless or at risk of homelessness), and have difficulty with daily living activities or need help to maintain your independence.

Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit myagedcare.gov.au to register. An assessor will then contact you to arrange a free aged care needs assessment.

Once your funding is allocated, you have 56 calendar days to choose a provider and start services. You can request a 28-day extension (84 days total) from My Aged Care. If services do not start within this window, funding is withdrawn and you must re-register.

Contributions may apply depending on your income and the services you receive. A fee estimator is available at myagedcare.gov.au/support-at-home-fee-estimator. Your care partner will explain any applicable contributions.
